How Do You Paint a Fuzzy Bird?
These birds need feathers. Can different tools make different-looking fluff?
LOOK CLOSELY
Which mark looks soft?
Look at the different marks. Which tool would you try to make a fluffy bird?
Video coming soon. Explore the activity below.
Gather what you need
Paper, washable paint, two or more child-safe texture stampers or sponges, glue, precut paper eyes and triangle beaks, and a marker.
For your grown-up: Use age-appropriate tools and a thin layer of paint. A grown-up prepares paper features; keep loose pieces away from mouths.
Let’s see what happens.
- Look at the tools and predict which mark each will leave. Try them on spare paper.
- Dip lightly, tap off extra paint, stamp, and lift. Repeat marks to grow a bird body.
- Try a different tool for another bird. Choose your own colors and compare the textures.
- When dry, add paper eyes and a beak. Wings, nests, and legs are your choice.
Your ideas belong here too.
